The Culpeper Confirms A Second Team Member Tested Positive for COVID-19

Baseline Testing Will Begin As Planned on July 13

A second team member at The Culpeper tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed on July 11. The team member, who works as a CNA in the health care area, is recovering at home. The team member has not been at the Culpeper since July 1. Contact tracing is underway to determine if other team members or residents might have been exposed.

This positive case is unrelated to the positive case reported on July 10. At this point in contact tracing, it appears that both of these positive cases are the result of transmission that occurred outside of The Culpeper community.

No residents or other team members at The Culpeper have tested positive for COVID-19. The management team reported the second positive staff test result to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) per the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The Culpeper team is closely monitoring all residents in the health care, assisted living and memory care areas to ensure everyone is in good health. Due to the most recent positive test result of a CNA in the health care area, additional monitoring for residents in this area has been implemented.

Everyone who enters the community is being screened daily, including all team members and vendors. Each team member has been educated regarding the process of self-reporting which includes travel history and symptoms of respiratory illness.

Baseline testing will continue as planned for all residents and team members, with the exception of cottage residents, between 8 – 10 a.m on Monday, July 13.
