January 3: COVID-19 Update

The Culpeper’s management team appreciates our community’s ongoing support as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together. We are doing everything we can to keep residents, families and team members safe. We continue to strive to be transparent. With that in mind, we would like to share important testing information.

On January 2, The Culpeper’s management team became aware of three direct care team members who tested positive for COVID-19.  All three team members became symptomatic and immediately rapid tested in the community. Two of the team members work in the healthcare center, the third team member works in assisted living. These team members are quarantining at home per Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidance until return-to-work criteria is met. Contact tracing for the three team members revealed they all wore appropriate personal protective equipment and followed proper infection control protocol; they had no direct contact with residents or any team members.

The Culpeper team continues to closely monitor all residents in the healthcare, assisted living and memory care neighborhoods to ensure everyone is in good health. We are working diligently to prevent the spread of the virus. Both VDH and all licensing agencies were notified of these positive results. No additional guidance has been received at this time.  Currently no resident neighborhoods are requiring isolation. Team member testing continues twice weekly in the healthcare center due to the high county positivity rate. All residents in the healthcare center continue to be tested weekly as well.

Visitation remains suspended until further notice for all main building residents. However, The Culpeper’s team recognizes the ongoing hardship for both residents and families regarding no visitation, and we continue to look at different alternatives to enhance communication and moments with your loved one. We will keep you informed of any new options we are able to offer in the future. We do still encourage use of Zoom, Skype and window visits weather permitting.
