January 12: COVID-19 Update
On January 11, The Culpeper’s management team became aware of five residents who tested positive for COVID-19. The positive results were discovered during baseline testing completed on January 7. All five residents reside in the long-term healthcare center. All positive residents were immediately placed in isolation. Resident representatives, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and licensing agencies were all notified. Per the recommendations from the local health department, all other residents in the long-term healthcare center are quarantining.
Additionally, on January 11, the management team was notified of a positive team member, also identified during baseline testing on January 7. The team member works in the long-term healthcare center. The team member is quarantining at home per VDH guidance until return-to-work criteria are met. Contact tracing revealed no direct exposure with residents or other team members. VDH and licensing agencies were notified.
The Culpeper team continues to closely monitor all residents in the healthcare, assisted living and memory care neighborhoods to enhance early identification for any potential signs of virus transmission. Team member testing continues twice weekly in the healthcare center due to the high county positivity rate. All residents in the healthcare center continue to be tested weekly as well.
Visitation remains suspended for all residents in the main building. Team members are available to assist with phone calls with loved ones, use of Zoom, Skype and window visits weather permitting.
The Culpeper’s team is excited that the first coordinated vaccination clinic with Walgreens Pharmacy is underway today as planned. Vaccinations will be provided to all consenting residents and team members. The participation rate is expected to be good.
