New Visitation and Resident Guidelines

The Culpeper’s leadership team is excited to share that CMS has recently released new COVID-19 guidelines. As a result, effective Monday, May 10, new visitation guidelines will be put in place.

Detailed visitation guidelines will be available at the main entrance of the community upon entry, and each visitor must sign acceptance of these new visitation guidelines. Please keep in mind the following NEW information pertaining to visitation.

• Visitors can visit at any time and there is no limit on the number of visitors going forward. Children under 16 are permitted with use of masks at all times.
• When visitors are fully vaccinated, residents and families can remove masks, and have close contact while in their residence. When visitors are un-vaccinated, masks use is required, and social distancing guidelines apply at all times during visits. Fully vaccinated refers to a person who is > 2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or > 2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine; there is currently no post-vaccination time limit on fully vaccinated status.
• Use of common areas is no longer restricted, although we do ask that movement in the community be limited. Visitors and residents must wear a mask when moving throughout the community.
• At this time, dining venues and communal activities remain closed to all visitors.
• All visitors continue to be screened and logged in at the main entrance. Those who are experiencing any signs or symptoms of illness should refrain from visitation.

The leadership team requests that visitors notify The Culpeper immediately if they become suspicious of having COVID-19 and have visited in the 14 days prior to coming into contact or suspected contact with COVID-19.

Along with the new visitation guidance, resident guidance for dining and communal activities has also been relaxed. Residents, please be aware of the new guidance outlined:

• Dining guidelines: Cottage residents are now allowed to be seated together within the main dining room. Cottage residents are also now permitted to enter through the main entrance for dining. Within the main dining room, vaccinated residents are now allowed to dine together without social distancing. Unvaccinated residents must continue to dine with 6-foot social distancing guidelines and may not dine with vaccinated residents due to transmission precautions and resident safety. There will be no change in required mask protocol and social distancing guidelines in the Health Care dining venues at this time.
• Activities guidelines: Main Building and Cottage residents are now allowed to attend activities together with no limit to the number of residents attending. When all residents and team members in attendance are vaccinated residents are now allowed to remove masks and will not need social distancing. When unvaccinated residents or team members are present all residents must continue to wear masks for resident safety, and the unvaccinated resident must be socially distanced from others, per CMS regulations. Please continue to wear masks to and from activities and during movement within the building. The Programming Coordinator that is present will determine if mask use is needed and communicate at the start of each activity.

Additionally, vaccinated team members in the Health Care Center will no longer need to be included in routine testing. Testing for unvaccinated team members will continue based on the county positivity rate. The next testing date for unvaccinated team members is Monday, May 24, 2021.
