January 4: COVID-19 Update

First, The Culpeper’s leadership team would like to thank you for your patience as the COVID-19 Culpeper County transmission rate remains high and additional cases continue throughout the community. We are pleased to report that no residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at this time. We understand that seeing many memos per week may be concerning. Please note that this will continue as the community must follow Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance to report new positive cases by the end of the next business day. To better assist and outline positive cases, we are changing the format for these memos.

New Team Member Cases to Report:
• One assisted living direct care team member who was tested after returning to the country
• One assisted living non-direct care team member the last date worked 12/29/21
• One healthcare direct care team member last date worked 12/29/21
• One healthcare non-direct care team member last date worked 12/26/21
• One contracted non-direct care team member last date worked 1/3/22

All COVID-19 positive team members will remain at home until return-to-work criteria are met. Contact tracing has been completed for all team members. All identified high-risk team members will be tested per CMS guidance testing protocol and will be closely observed for symptoms of the virus. No resident high-risk exposures have been identified.

The Culpeper’s terrace level remains in outbreak testing as previously reported with the next testing date for residents and team members set for January 6. Residents and team members in assisted living and memory support will be tested based on symptoms or exposures. Any team members who are not yet fully vaccinated or have received a medical or religious waiver from LifeSpire of Virginia will continue to be tested based on the county transmission rate. The leadership team will communicate any further positive cases.

All licensing agencies and the Virginia Department of Health have been notified of the positive cases and subsequent actions taken by The Culpeper.
