December 7: COVID-19 Update

The Culpeper’s management team appreciates our community’s patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together. We are doing everything we can to keep residents, families and team members safe. We continue to strive to be transparent. With that in mind, we would like to share recent testing information.

On December 6, The Culpeper’s management team became aware that a resident who lives in the rehab to home neighborhood in the health care center tested positive for COVID-19. The resident’s representative has been notified. The resident has been on isolation since December 1 and continues to follow the isolation protocol. All residents in the rehab to home neighborhood are still in isolation and will be tested weekly, per Virginia Department of Health (VDH) recommendations. Based on additional VDH recommendations, rehab therapy will cease for all levels of care except terrace level residents as of December 6 to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus.

On December 7, The Culpeper’s management team became aware of three additional team members who tested positive for COVID-19. All team members are direct care providers in our healthcare center, primarily in the rehab to home neighborhood. These team members are quarantining at home per VDH guidance until return-to-work criteria is met. Contact tracing for the three team members revealed one other healthcare team member who was possibly exposed; this individual has been tested and is quarantining at home pending results.

The Culpeper team is closely monitoring all residents in the healthcare, assisted living and memory support areas to ensure everyone is in good health. Both VDH and all licensing agencies were notified of these positive results. Visitation remains suspended until further notice for all main building residents. The Culpeper’s team continues to follow all recommendations from VDH and is working diligently to prevent the spread of the virus.
