December 21: COVID-19 Update

On December 20, The Culpeper’s management team became aware of a team member who tested positive for COVID-19 as part of the baseline testing conducted on December 17. The team primarily works in the healthcare center. The team member is asymptomatic at this time and will return to work when the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) criteria are met. Contact tracing revealed that the team member had no direct contact with residents or other team members. On December 21, the management team was alerted to a second positive result. This team member is a non-direct care team member in assisted living. The team member last worked on November 25 and has not been in contact with any residents or team members. The team member will return to work when the criteria are met.

The Culpeper team is closely monitoring all residents in the healthcare, assisted living and memory support neighborhoods. Both VDH and all licensing agencies were notified of the positive result, with no additional recommendations at this time. Team member testing will continue twice a week in the health care center due to the county positivity rate. All residents in the rehab to home neighborhood are still in isolation and health care residents continue to be tested weekly, per VDH recommendations.

Visitation remains suspended until further notice for all main building residents to include outdoor visits and memory support courtyard visits. Zoom, Skype and window visits will continue with appropriate reservations.  Communal dining and activities continue accordingly. All residents are discouraged from community outings other than medically necessary appointments. The Culpeper’s team urges all residents and team members to keep in mind the ongoing high community positivity rate and proceed cautiously with daily activities.
