August 18: COVID-19 Testing Update

At the recommendation of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), ten health care team members were randomly selected for testing on August 7. All test results were negative. An additional round of ten health care team members was randomly selected for testing on August 14, and all of those tests were also negative. VDH has been notified of both rounds of negative test results and deemed baseline/sample testing complete. Moving forward, testing will only be conducted for symptomatic team members and residents or, in some cases, team members with known possible exposure.

The past few months have been challenging for everyone involved. The management team thanks all members of the community for the ongoing support and patience as we work toward the goal of Phase II reopening and increased visitation and socialization. Based on the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and requirements to enter Phase II as mandated by VDH, The Culpeper will apply to enter Phase II within the next two weeks. Community members will be updated as the management team learns more regarding Phase II re-opening.

Additionally, the team member who works as a licensed nurse in the memory care neighborhood, who tested positive on August 7 made a full recovery. The team member met the CDC/VDH return to work criteria and has returned to work.
