August 9: COVID-19 Update

The Culpeper’s leadership team is pleased to share that the community has been free from positive cases for over four months now. The team has been excited to see so many visitors and engaging activities for all residents. However, the team today became aware of an ancillary team member who tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is at home on quarantine per the return-to-work criteria set forth by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Contact tracing has been completed and anyone who was in close contact with the team member has been notified directly. No residents or other team members are exhibiting symptoms currently. Both VDH and all licensing agencies were notified of the positive result.

Due to this team member working throughout the building and per VDH guidance, this positive test result does cause a change in protocols. Unfortunately, visitation to terrace level, the health care center, is suspended, effective August 9th. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members. Residents who live on the terrace level as well as team members that work on terrace level will be tested on Tuesday, August 10.

Visitation will continue for all other levels of care: memory care and assisted living. The Culpeper’s team urges all residents and team members to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene.
